The Gerry Weber Stadium built in 1991 is a multifunctional arena and provides seating for 12,300 visitors. Originally intended as a venue for lawn tennis tournaments, the stadium has been technically upgraded and has developed into an all-weather arena. The roof structure can be opened or closed in only 88 seconds. It consists of an air-filled, double layer PE film.
The entire roof is supported by so-called vee stays that are connected to the adjacent construction by means of maintenance-free spherical plain bearings.
