To evaporate the remaining water, the paper web runs over numerous steam-heated dryer rolls, guided by dryer wires. Because of the high temperature of the rolls, the floating bearing must compensate for length variations of up to 15 mm. Self-aligning bearings are required to compensate for misalignments. At the drive side a spherical roller bearing is always mounted as the locating bearing. At the operator’s end, spherical roller bearings (some of them in rocker block housings) or self-aligning cylindrical roller bearings are mounted as floating bearings. These bearings are connected to a central oil lubrication system.
