With its ACTIVeDRIVE, Schaeffler presents a concept vehicle for electric mobility and thereby completes its trio of demonstration vehicles for the company’s vision of modern automobility.
Press conference for annual financial statement in Frankfurt, Germany: The end of 2010 sees record results for the Schaeffler Group with an increase in sales of 29.4 percent to EUR 9.5 billion.
Sale of Continental shares from the portfolio of private banks M. M. Warburg and Bankhaus Metzler to a wide international investor base. Around 29.7 million shares are divested at EUR 60 each during this placement. These sales in shares mean the free float of Continental shares increases from 24.9 percent to 39.7 percent.
One of the world’s largest test stands for large-size bearings is constructed at FAG’s location in Schweinfurt – an investment of several million euros.
At Hannover Messe Industrie, Schaeffler Group Industrial presents exhibits and intelligent bearing solutions for future trends and for renewable energy sources in particular. Amongst others, the largest single-piece spherical roller bearing ever built with an outside diameter of 3.20 meters and a total weight of eleven tons is exhibited by the company at the trade show.
A “Schaeffler vehicle” participates in the international DTM series for the first time in the company’s 25-year commitment to motor sport.
Laying the foundation stone for a new FAG plant in Savli in India. Production is due to commence in spring 2012.
PACE Award for Schaeffler! The lightweight balancer shaft with rolling bearing supports won the award in the “Product” category. This innovative Schaeffler product makes an important contribution to cutting fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Construction of a new manufacturing location in Nanjing, China. Production of ball bearings for customers in the automotive and industrial sectors will begin in 2013.
The “eMobility Systems Division” business unit is set up. All Schaeffler’s activities regarding electric mobility are bundled here in order to tap into a broad sector of the market on the overall system level.
The transformation of Schaeffler GmbH into a corporation not listed on the stock market (Schaeffler AG) becomes effective with the entry in the Commercial Register on October 13. As well as the entire operational business of the Schaeffler Group, all the operational holdings companies affiliated to the Group and the Group’s real estate are bundled in Schaeffler AG.
At the second Handelsblatt Open Innovation Congress, Schaeffler receives the 2011 Best Open Innovator Award from the Zeppelin University of Friedrichshafen in recognition of the best overall concept.
Schaeffler is presented with the Bavarian State Award for Electric Mobility in the category drive technology, electrical systems and test systems for its innovative eWheelDrive during the leading trade show, eCarTec.
The world’s largest, most modern, and most powerful large-size bearing test stand is put into operation in Schweinfurt. It can perform tests on bearings weighing up to 15 tons and with an outside diameter of up to 3.5 meters.
Schaeffler received a large number of awards in 2011 for its excellent quality, for example from Daimler, Fiat, Goldwind, Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche, Toyota, VW, Rane NSK Steering Systems Ltd., Aichi Kikai, Changan Ford Mazda Engine, and Changchun Yidong.
2012
In September, a rolling bearing monument was erected in Schweinfurt, for which Schaeffler donated a double-row spherical roller bearing. The monument is a visible token of appreciation to the Schweinfurt bearing industry. It is a symbol for past, present, and future of an industrial product that is so firmly rooted in Schweinfurt.
